What a joy to be at Ford Street UMC Sunday! I was told people would gather in the Coffee shop from 8:30 on. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I believed them especially on the spring forward Sunday. I appreciated the chance to talk to so many people during that time. Even more, I appreciated the positive energy in the room that carried into the sanctuary. The caring and hospitality was apparent. In the weeks ahead I plan to arrive about 8:15 and be ready for coffee and chat about 8:30. I encourage you to join us. True confession time: I am sure I will not remember all your names. I have heard Glen was exceptional at names. (it is good to hear what you liked about those who have served Ford Street) I know it is an area I will likely struggle, but I will work on it. Last Sunday I shared a prayer for the community that speaks of my focus over the next 4 months. I invite you to join me in praying it regularly: Lord Jesus, prepare us, Ford Street UMC to be a people with their arms wide open. Prepare us to be ready to fully embrace, engage and encourage one another, a new pastor and the community. Sunday also talked about the importance of relationships and service as we grow as disciples of Jesus. The challenge is to build a healthy relationship with a person in the church family and one in the community. I believe it is important to watch for what God is doing in our lives in good times and hard times. While I shared some of my family’s story Sunday morning, I plan to share another part and the importance of the promise of the rainbow in my life. SPPRC has been hard at work preparing information for the CS Saneta and the INUMC Cabinet. Thank you for making all those phone calls. I encourage you to keep the SPPRC and the process in your prayers. When it is time for a new Pastor, the SPPRC works through the Conference Superintendent and the Cabinet to match the right person. Your prayers are important in the process. Thank you. On Tuesday I plan to be at Ford Street from 11:00 until the Council meeting at 7:00. I encourage you to stop by for a visit. I would love to hear more of your story. Or schedule a time. Dianne is the person to schedule through if you are interested. I look forward to worshiping with you online or in person Sunday.
