Pastor Pondering:
Dear Ford Street Friends,
It is amazing how many exciting things are happening here at Ford Street! I so look forward to coming into the office each morning to see people in various roles and activities- meetings, Bible study, the crochet group, people making the church beautiful, and having conversations and fellowship. Our calendar continues to be filled with worship, discipleship, outreach and fellowship opportunities.
That is why it saddens me to read articIes such as one NPR posted this week about how only 16% of people surveyed said that religion is the most important thing in their lives. This percentage is down by 20% from a decade ago. The article goes on to say, however, the 82% of people who are still involved in their church or faith community say they are optimistic about the future of their church.
How about you? Are you optimistic about the future of your church? I hope so! People need the church. People need Jesus. We are a church that has a lot to offer- Jesus included (of course)! Let’s continue to let people know who we are and that we are here- right here in Lapel. Our doors are open wide! And it takes all of us to open them!
This week in worship, we will continue the sermon series on the Holy Spirit: “Breath, Wind, Fire: The Holy Spirit as Challenger”.
Pentecost Sunday is May 28. Please wear RED as we celebrate the Holy Spirit!
