Dear Ford Street Friends,
Happy Groundhog Day! I remember this day being a special day for me as a kid who had a summer birthday, because February 2nd is my “half birthday.” When I was in school, my mom would sometimes send cupcakes with me to celebrate with my friends since I never got to have a school party! I would also be very curious about what Punsxutawney Phil would have to say about the remainder of the winter months. Would he see his shadow or not?
Then, of course the famous movie, Groundhogs Day, starring Bill Murray, gives us all a glimpse of what it would be like to live the same day over and over again. Would we make different choices? Would we treat people differently? What will we do with the time we have been given? As we finish up the series “Engage. Embrace. Encourage” this Sunday, we will be reflecting on “Encourage.” What does it mean to be an encouraging church? What examples do we take from Jesus, who is our great encourager?
And believe it or not, we are beginning our journey toward Lent. Ash Wednesday falls on Valentine’s Day this year. I will be imposing ashes in the coffee shop and offering prayer that day from 9:00 am-12:00 noon, followed by worship at 7:00 pm. All are welcome!
See you soon at Ford St!
