Pastor Pondering:
Happy Friday, Ford Street Friends!
I will miss you all next week as I will be on vacation. I’m heading to New Smyrna Beach, FL with my friend Amber. We have rented a jeep and plan to take it for a spin on the beach and enjoy the sunshine! As we wrap up these last days of summer, I am mindful of the simple joys that we find in our lives. I am also mindful of our tendencies to want to rush through life at times and move forward. I remind myself frequently of these things (and perhaps you need these reminders, too!!)
-Be open
-Let today happen
-Do not worry about tomorrow’s feelings, problems, or gifts
-Everything we need today shall be given to us. That is a promise from God, and from the Universe.
-Do not be in such a rush to move on. There is no hurry. We cannot escape; we only postpone.
-Breathe in peace and healing.
Those are some of my goals as I take time away next week to let go and rejuvenate. You will be in my prayers as I travel, and I look forward to being back with you on Sunday, August 6 where we will celebrate Holy Communion together and hear a message on “The B-I-B-L-E: How United Methodists Read Scripture.”
This Sunday, July 30, my dear friend Pastor Mary Eileen Spence will grace you with the Sunday message, entitled “What About Heaven?” I trust you will greet her with open hearts!
My vacation time will be July 28-August 5. If any pastoral emergencies arise, please call Diane at the church office or Pastor Scott Taylor of Trinity UMC at 317-345-6412.
