Hello Ford Street Church and Lapel Community! Our Church Council is wanting to make you aware of the decisions the church council made recently. First, we will not return to in person worship in June. This decision is about safety first and we were not sure that we yet had a plan with which we could welcome people safely to gather. It is our hope that we will develop a plan to gather in late June so that we can begin to worship together in person in July, in some form, even if whatever we do is not particularly comfortable, or even if we are outdoors. We will be together, and we want to be together. These are unprecedented times and we will just have to prepare for hard adjustments in our gathering as we prepare to gather.
There was a feeling as well that these decisions were not only made from a concern for safety, but also were led by the Holy Spirit. A lot of us pray about this often, and we know many of you are praying. We believe God will lead us back to worship together as safely and responsibly as possible. We want to encourage you to trust each other and trust God in this time, even when trust feels strained.
We want you also to know that one of our biggest goals is to help us feel connected even now. That’s why we are glad to tell you that we will be encouraging small groups to meet in the building as they desire and schedule. We are glad to offer Wednesday evening prayer as well at 6:30p.m. in the building. While we are all frustrated about our inability to gather in the weeks ahead, we want to continue to encourage you to make the most of the online platforms. How can we best reflect the light and love of God there? People are watching! we hope you will be too! And connecting!
